For starters, Rays vs. Red Sox, with Thompson in, Rhymes out

Update 5:00 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said Will Rhymes was feeling better, and could be playing sooner than you think, but not tonight against the Red Sox.

Maddon said Rhymes wanted to take batting practice, but the training staff wouldn't let him, and it doesn't look like he'll need to go on the disabled list.

*Maddon said the Rays have chosen the Saturday starter, but won't announce it yet because they haven't told him yet. It's either going to be RHP Alex Cobb or RHP Chris Archer.

*3B Evan Longoria (hamstring) fielded ground balls today in his usual fielding position, and didn't move much laterally, but looked okay.  "I'm progressing well," he said.

*Rays senior advisor Don Zimmer at Trop today for first time since opening weekend, multiple hospital stays, start of dialysis. "I'm here, that's the most important thing," he said.

Developing: The Rays will look to make in 5 straight wins tonight when they face the Red Sox, and their lineup includes an interesting note: The first big-league start for OF Rich Thompson. LHP Matt Moore will start for the Rays against Boston LHP Felix Doubront. INF Will Rhymes, who sustained a bruised forearm on Wednesday, is not in the lineup. The starting lineup: Zobrist rf, Upton cf, Scott dh, Keppinger 2b, Pena 1b, S-Rod 3b, Johnson ss, Gimenez c, Thompson lf, Moore p
