For starters, Rays vs. Royals



UPDATE, 5:52: Maddon clarified his comments from Sunday and said  they will NOT need to call up a starter for next week's doubleheader in Boston because they have a day off before, and also a day off following the three-game two-day series. ... John Jaso's rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham will start Wednesday and last at least two weeks, Maddon said. ... There was no update on the condition of RHP Alex Cobb, who is on the DL with numbness in his right hand and a dead-arm feeling.

DEVELOPING: After another disappointing loss on Sunday, the Rays tonight open a four-game series with the Royals.

RHP Jeremy Hellickson will be on the mound tonight for the Rays, as they revert back to a five-man rotation following the loss of Alex Cobb to the DL.

RHP Luke Hochevar starts for the Royals on a hot streak, having won his last three starts, going back to a July 22 win over the Rays, and is unbeaten in his last seven starts.
