For starters, Rays vs Royals, without Crawford

Update 12:45 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said Crawford's day off was planned in advance, and he wanted to get Aybar some at-bats, feeling he was a better matchup against Greinke than Burrell.

*On the medical front, LHP J.P. Howell will throw another bullpen session Monday, incorporating some curveballs into the 40-pitch session. The plan is for him to throw another bullpen Thursday and Sunday, and Howell said it'll be up to the Rays then whether he's ready to start a rehab assignment. Late May is still the target return date.

*OF Matt Joyce said he's still about a week away from throwing, but has a goal of a late May return, too.

Developing: The Rays will face the Royals - and AL Cy Young award winner Zack Greinke - today in the series finale at the Trop, with both LF Carl Crawford and DH Pat Burrell getting the day off.

Sean Rodriguez will play left, with John Jaso back behind the plate, and Carlos Pena back in the cleanup spot; Willy Aybar will DH.

RHP Wade Davis will be on the mound for the Rays, saying he's made some adjustments since his last start.

The Rays lineup:
Bartlett ss
Zobrist rf
Longoria 3b
Pena 1b
Aybar dh
Upton cf
Jaso c
Brignac 2b
Rodriguez lf
