For starters, Rays vs Twins

The struggling Rays are here in Minnesota, the last stop on a nine-game road trip, hoping to snap their streak of five straight series losses before they host the red-hot Red Sox this weekend at Tropicana Field.

Tampa Bay is 2-4 on the trip so far, and will have RHP Jeff Niemann on the mound tonight. Niemann has pitched well since giving up five runs in the first inning of his debut, with the key his downward angle on his fastball.

The punchless Rays bats will face Twins struggling starter Scott Baker, who has given up seven home runs (all to right handers) in 8 2/3 innings, and 15 hits overall.

Gabe Gross gets the start in rightfield.

Twins CF Denard Span, a former Tampa Catholic standout, will leadoff.
