For starters, Rays vs. Twins

UPDATE, 4:56: 3B Evan Longoria said he is progressing well in his recovery from a strained oblique and feels he is ahead of schedule, even though it's not likely he'll return before the planned three weeks on the DL (April 24) and then some minor-league rehab games. ... Manager Joe Maddon said he went as lefthanded as he could against Carl Pavano tonight with his lineup, but likes the flexibility in the middle that switch-hitters Felipe Lopez and Ben Zobrist provide. .... Johnny Damon is the DH again, and it sounds like he will be most of the time, especially as long as Sam Fuld, who has been playing leftfield, stays hot.

Twins lineup, without C Joe Mauer, who manager Ron Gardenhire said is "sore" and that's about all he said:
Span cf
Cuddyer 2b
Morneau 1b
Thome dh
Young lf
Kubel rf
Valencia 3b
Butera c

UPDATE, 3:15: Rays lineup:
Fuld lf
Damon dh
Upton cf
Lopez 3b
Zobrist 2b
Joyce rf
D. Johnson 1b
Jaso c
Brignac ss
Shields p

DEVELOPING: The Rays are back at the Trop to open an eight-game homestand, starting with a four-game series with the Twins.

RHP James Shields, who was to pitch Wednesday's rained out game in Boston, will be on the mound, against Carl Pavano.
