For starters, Rays vs. White Sox with no Damon

UPDATE, 5:28: Upton said he asked Maddon to give him a day off, and today ended up being the day. He is available later in the game. Also, Dan Johnson has his left wrist wrapped but is said to be okay.

UPDATE, 4:33: Maddon said Damon remaived "very sore" and while it's possible he could be available to pinch hit on Tuesday, Maddon woudn't know for sure until then. And like Damon, he is hoping a return to the lineup before the end of the homestand is possible. Damon did say he could be used as a pinch-runner. ... Maddon said Dan Johnson, who was struck on the wrist by a pitch Sunday is okay and said he could have played but they wanted to give him an extra day's rest. .... And he said in watching Upton and talking to him he felt his legs "have been getting a little bit heavy" and wanted to get him off the AstroTurf for a day. "I know he's a young man, whatever, but this stuff does take its toll,'' he said.

UPDATE, 3:55:3B Evan Longoria continues to feel good in recovery from oblique strain, plans to take "dry swings" on Tuesday, will go to Toronto with team and then hopes to go on rehab assignment at Montgomery or Durham, and be back in Rays lineup by April 29.

UPDATE, 3:21: Damon says he's "definitely down" today, can't grip a bat, hopes to play before end of homestand.
UPDATE, 3:15

DEVELOPING: The Rays look to get back on the winning side tonight as they open a four-game series with the White Sox, and have to face old mate RHP Edwin Jackson.

The big question with the Rays will be the status of OF/DH Johnny Damon, who sustained a bruised left ring finger Sunday when hit by a pitch during a bunt attempt. Based on what Damon said Sunday, it seems unlikely he would play today.

Durham LHP Alex Torres was named the International League pitcher of the week.

White Sox lineup, without Adam Dunn and A.J. Pierzynski:

Pierre lf
Beckham 2b
Quentin DH
Konerko 1b
Rios cf
Ramirez ss
Castro c
Lillibridge rf
Morel 3b
Jackson p
