For starters, Rays vs. Yankees
Update 5:40 p.m. RHP Jeremy Hellickson (bruised right shin) came through his regular between-starts bullpen session fine Monday and said he expects to make his next start Thursday in Cleveland.
Hellickson threw 40 pitches, saying the injury didn't impact the way he threw. He said it's still a little sore, but tolerable, and "night and day" better than yesterday. Manager Joe Maddon said Hellickson felt good, but wants to wait to hear from head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield before declaring Hellickson is good to go.
*Maddon said OF Matt Joyce (oblique) had an encouraging day, and could start a short 2-3 rehab game stint soon, with the possibility he joins the team during the Indians series this weekend.
*Maddon said OF Sam Fuld (right wrist surgery) could start his rehab assignment later this week, and would need the maximum 20-day stint.
*Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he's hoping to get 5-6 innings from RHP Freddy Garcia, who moved back from the bullpen to rotation to fill in for injured LHP Andy Pettitte. The Yankees will have the services of an ex-Ray reliever in RHP Chad Qualls, who was acquired from the Phillies.
Update 5:38 p.m. Here's the Yankees lineup
