For starters, Rays vs. Yankees

Update 5:50 p.m. There was plenty of news to talk about in manager Joe Maddon's pre-game media session:

*Maddon said although they designated RHP Adam Russell for assignment, they're hoping to keep him - he'd need to clear waivers for that to happen.

*They're hoping RHP Juan Cruz, who was placed on the 15-day DL with a mild groin strain, will be a minimal DL stay, with Cruz feeling the injury while warming up last night.

*LHP Alex Torres was called up to provide some bullpen depth - and length - considering the marathon 16-inning game last night. There's only a four-man pen available tonight, with RHP Kyle Farnsworth, LHP Cesar Ramos and RHP Joel Peralta.

* OF Matt Joyce's sore right knee was feeling better and he is available to pinch-hit but nothing's set yet on his return to the lineup.
