For starters, Rays at White Sox, with no Zobrist
UPDATE: Rays lineup, with Zobrist getting the night off: Bartlett ss, Crawford lf, Longoria 3b, Pena 1b, Upton cf, Burrell dh, Kapler rf, Navarro c, Rodriguez 2b, Davis p
The Rays have to find a way to get things right against lefthanders.
After being shutdown on Tuesday by Chicago's John Danks, the Rays will reassemble shortly at U.S. Cellular Field trying to better tonight against White Sox lefty Mark Buehrle, who, of course, threw a perfect game against them last July.
How bad have they been against lefties? Well they are hitting just .170 against lefties, which is 29th in the majors (only the Blue Jays are worse) and three of their four losses have been in games started by lefties - Baltimore's Brian Matusz, New York's CC Sabathia and Danks.
Another interesting note from last night: The Rays 3-4-5 hitters (Ben Zobrist, Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena) went 0-for-10 with six strikeouts. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there was not a game last season when the starters in the 3-4-5 holes went 0-for with an least 6 Ks.
And here's an update from Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal on the idea that because of their quick start the Rays won't be looking to trade away players but looking to add bullpen help, perhaps as soon as June, and throwing out a name you're going to hear a lot, San Diego's Heath Bell.
