Developing: The best-in-the-majors Rays are here in Yankee Stadium for a two-game test against New York.

The two teams boast the top records in baseball - as well as the top pitching staffs (in terms of ERA) in the American League. And while it's only May, the Yankees are saying the Rays - which boast a three game lead in the AL East - are a team that will be a significant hurdle in trying to repeat as champions.

"We definitely expect for them to be there and we think they're a good club, a club to be reckoned with for sure," Andy Pettitte told the New York Post. "They just have so much talent. They've got so many great athletes...

"I don't think their pitching is going to go away. I think those guys are legit, all of them. (David) Price from what I saw when we faced them, just looking at him, he's going to make a huge difference in that rotation. It looks like he is developing as a pitcher."

Said manager Joe Girardi: "They're a complete team -- speed, power, defense -- and they're playing at an extremely high level. They are playing extremely well and I'm not shocked."

**Lineups to come, as well as an update on whether LHP J.P. Howell had sugery on his left shoulder today, which would put him out for the year.
