For starters, Rays at Yankees
UPDATE: 3B Evan Longoria has been encouraged with his recovery from a partially torn left hamstring, said he could start a rehab assignment by the end of this road trip and expects to rejoin the Rays as early as mid-June.
Manager Joe Maddon said Longoria would need a 7-10 day rehab assignment, and the big test is him doing acceleration/baserunning drills the next couple days.
*RHP James Shields is in California to tend to a family matter, and is expected to rejoin the team in Miami.
*Maddon said he hopes the Rays can keep OF Brandon Allen, who was designated for assignment Wednesday, pointing out he helped them win a few games while he was on the roster.
*Maddon continued to lament the struggling defense, saying 'We ain't going anywhere if we don't catch the ball like we can.'

DEVELOPING: The Rays, coming off an ugly 7-0 loss to New York Tuesday, will try to bounce back tonight against the Yankees.
RHP Alex Cobb, who has been strong on the road early in his career (3-1 with a 1.78 ERA in five starts) will make his first ever appearance at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees will throw RHP Ivan Nova, who has been tough on the Rays in his career.
The Rays made a roster move before the game, activating OF/1B Brandon Allen from the disabled list, then designating him for assignment. He must clear waivers to accept an assignment to Triple-A Durham. With his right quad injury healed, but no room on the roster, Allen was the one that had to go.
Lineups and more to come...
