The Rays and Yankees beat the rain on Tuesday before the Yankees beat the Rays, but tonight may be a bigger challenge, with rain forecast to start around 7 p.m. and continue much of the night.

The Rays are planning to send RHP Jeff Niemann - who is undefeated in five starts vs. the Yankees - to the mound in hopes of stopping their three-game losing streak. The Yankees are starting rookie David Phelps, so they may not mind a postponement.

The Rays will have OF Brandon Guyer on the roster, having called him up from Triple-A Durham. And they will be without INF Jeff Keppinger, who was placed on the restricted list for what the team said would be a short-term stay due to "a personal matter.''

The Rays had beaten the Yankees seven straight times until Tuesday's loss.
