Tampa Bay Rays' Upton leaves game, is "day-to-day"
Update: 5:19 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said Upton has a slightly strained right quadriceps, but doesn't believe it is serious, saying he's "day-to-day" and expects to have him back for their next series in Seattle, starting Tuesday.
Upton wasn't available to reporters after the game. Maddon said he didn't know when Upton suffered the injury, but said Upton told bench coach Dave Martinez aware of how he felt, so they decided to be cautious with him.
CF B.J. Upton left the game after the second inning with what the Rays described as tightness in his right quadriceps.
Upton was replaced by Gabe Kapler to start the third.
Upton had singled in his first at-bat, and eventually stole third third before being stranded.
More details as they come.
