UPDATE: Longoria says he fine, left game by mutual decision, a little fatigued

UPDATE, 5:27: Longoria said he was fine, felt "a little fatigue" and it was a mutual decision, and the right thing to do, to come out of game. Plans to be back in lineup Tuesday.

UPDATE, 3:57: The Rays say Longoria left for precautionary reasons, playing a day game after a travel day, and is fine.

UPDATE, 3:41: It does not appear Longoria is in the Rays dugout, which is not a good sign either.

BREAKING: Evan Longoria was taken out of today's game after 7 innings, and with the score tied 3-3, an unusual and unexpected move.

Longoria appeared fine hitting a routine ground ball to second base for the final out of the home seventh. But when the Rays came back on the field, Elliot Johnson moved over from shortstop to third base and Reid Brignac came in at shortstop.

Longoria started at third base, for the second straight day and fourth time in five days, and was 1-for-4.

Longoria said before the game he was feeling good and didn't plan to take any games off the rest of the season. He returned Aug. 7 after missing more than 3 months with a left hamstring injury.
