Upton feels good in return to game action
CF B.J. Upton was encouraged with how he felt after going through batting practice Tuesday, then going 0-for-2 with a walk on the minor league fields.
It was Upton's first game action since last Wednesday's on-field collision with LF Desmond Jennings, which left his lower back sore. Upton hopes to play again today against the Yankees.
"I felt pretty good," Upton said. "I like the strides I made. The biggest thing is seeing pitches, and I saw enough pitches, had some good swings. It's a great day for me right now."
Upton had two at-bats in the Double-A game, walking and flying out, then moved over to the Triple-A game to see a righthanded pitcher, grounding out hard to short. He said he felt no soreness or issues.
"I'm moving in the right direction, and hopefully I can get out there tommorrow, and if not, no biggie," Upton said. "I like where I'm at right now."
