Upton not in lineup, but no deal as of now
UPDATE, 9:29: This could explain some things - Upton told teammates he has had some tightness in his left quad. He insisted he was fine when asked, and Maddon said he "could have" played tonight.
UPDATE, 9:13: Asked his gut feeling on being traded, Upton said: "I think I'll be here. I don't think I'm going anywhere.''
UPDATE, 9:02: Upton said there's "nothing going on" and that Maddon wanted to give him a day off. Also, Upton said his gut feeling is that he will not be traded. Maddon also said that he wanted to rest Upton - even though he was off Sunday as well - becasue he's "a little beat up" and since they have a 12:37 local time game on Thursday he was going to play in only one of the games. Maddon also said Upton could have played tonight and will play on Thursday - for the Rays.
UPDATE, 7:58: As of now, hearing Rays do NOT have a deal in place for Upton.
UPDATE, 7:55: There is more circumstantial evidence, as Washington SS Ian Desmond and C Wilson Ramos are not in the Nats lineup.
DEVELOPING: Curiously, B.J. Upton is not in the Rays lineup tonight. He is here at the stadium in Oakland and was out in the field running earlier today. Players are often held out of the lineup if a trade is close to being completed. Since Upton had Sunday off, this is not a scheduled day off.
