Welcome to the NEW Yankee Stadium
There have been issues with home run balls and empty seats, but the view from the outside, walking from the 161st St. subway station, and from the press box of the new Yankee Stadium is pretty darn nice. Modern, clean and impressive.
And a nice touch with the nameplates in the press box.
Here are a few views from the box:
And overall, it looks like this:
And looking from left to right:
The Rays have reason to like the change. Here are some notes from the team regarding their visits to the old park:
Rays played 91 games at old Yankee Stadium and went 26-65 (.286) and 4-22-5 in 31 all-time series there.
Rays lost their first game at the old park, 7-1, on June 3, 1998…Orlando Hernandez beat Tony Saunders.
Rays current bench coach Davey Martinez played RF for the Devil Rays that day and had the team’s first hit in the old yard.
Tays will also make their debut at the Mets’ Citi Field, June 19-21...the only other parks
the Rays have yet to visit are Los Angeles (Dodger Stadium) and Milwaukee (Miller Park)…
New Yankee Stadium will be the 35th different park the Rays will have played, 32nd enemy port. They have gone 8-23 in their first games the previous 31 occasions in their first game in a road park.
