Fan taken from Rays game on stretcher after being hit by foul ball
A fan sitting near the Rays dugout was taken from Friday's game on a stretcher after being hit in the face or head with a foul ball.
The female fan was sitting in the second row of seats behind the protective netting that was added this season, but the ball, off the bat of Steven Souza Jr., went through a small triangle-shaped opening.
As emergency medical personnel, who immediately got a towel from the Rays dugout presumably for blood, attended to the fan. Souza, who was serving as the Rays DH, came out of the dugout and into the stands to check on her.
The game was delayed 12 minutes as she was attended to and then placed on a stretcher that was on the field and wheeled out.
