For starter, Rays vs. Jays, wrapping up 1st series
UPDATE, 5:44: The Rays have changed their lineup again, as Wil Myers was scratched due to flu-like symptoms. So Matt Joyce will move to RF, Desmond Jennings will move up in the order and Logan Forsythe will go into LF, their third LF of the night, and the game is almost 90 minutes away still.
Latest Rays lineup:
UPDATE, 5:36: Also, the Rays are expected to make a decision around 6 p.m. on the status of Sean Rodriguez, who is attending to his wife Giselle as she delivers their fourth child. Maddon said they had a contingency plan in place, and it appears to involve INF Vince Belnome, who was scratched from the lineup at Triple-A Durham.
UPDATE, 5:32: The Rays initially had DeJesus in leftfield, then revised the lineup to have him DH and move Joyce to LF, which makes more sense given DeJesus' foot is still sore.
So here is the Rays lineup:
DEVELOPING: The Rays will have newly-made $25-million man Chris Archer on the mound tonight as they take on the Jays seeking a split of the four-game season-opening series.
Archer agreed to a long-term deal that was announced Wednesday, guaranteed $25.5-million over six years (and potentially $43.75-million over eight). He makes his first start of the season tonight after an impressive spring training.
The Rays have not looked very offensive the last two nights, scoring just two runs against Toronto starters Drew Hutchison and Mark Buehrle and bullpen staff.
This is, in a way, a "big" game for the Jays, who have not won a road series against the Rays - at the Trop, plus one at Disney - since 2007, a span of 20 series.
