For starters: Evan Longoria at DH during finale, lineups vs. Angels

Good morning.

The Rays end this long and disappointing road trip this afternoon with a 12:10 p.m. start against the Angels.

The Rays are 3-7 on this homestand. They have won just three of their last 18 games, matching the 2004 squad for the worst 21-game stretch in team history.

Evan Longoria, batting .385 with three three-hit games on the homestand, is the DH today. Tim Beckham starts at 3B.

1B Logan Morrison is not in the lineup with the Angels throwing lefty Hector Santiago. Nick Franklin starts at 1B. That’s three straight starts at three different positions for Franklin – LF, 2B and now 1B.

The Rays fly to Boston after the game for a three-game weekend series that leads to a much-needed All-Star Break.

In minor league news, promising RHP prospect Brent Honeywll was promoted from Class A Charlotte to Double A Montgomery.
