For starters, Rays vs. Royals, seeking a 4th straight series win
UPDATE, 5:31: SS Yunel Escobar (shoulder) played five innings for Class A Charlotte today and is set to the return to the Rays lineup on Friday, Maddon said. ... RHP Jeremy Hellickson felt the nornal post-start soreness but no pain or anything unusual in his elbow after 2014 debut. Now the Rays have to decide when he will pitch again, with plans to discuss the post-All-Star break rotation.
UPDATE, 5:27: Here is the Rays lineup, with Sean Rodriguez getting the start at 2B over Logan Forsythe.
DEVELOPING: After hanging on for a tense victory last night, the Rays are looking to win a fourth straight series tonight when they take on the Royals for the last time this season.
RHP Alex Cobb will be on the mound for the Rays, feeling he is close to regaining the requisite consistency in his delivery, opposed by hard-throwing HRP Yordano Ventura.
The Rays saw Ventura early this season, on April 8 in K.C., and managed only two hits over six shutout innings, but ended up winning the game 1-0.
As the Rays play tonight, they should also get a better sense if Yunel Escobar will be ready after a second rehab game with Class A Charlotte to rejoin them Friday as planned.
