For starters, Rays at A's in Smyly's debut
UPDATE, 8:27: Rays Maddon said he has no preconceived notions of what to expect tonight from Smyly, though based on recent performance he should be able to get deep - or at least thrown 100-110 pitches. Maddon acknowledged that's unusual as most starters who join their rotation tend to be from their organization. "This is cold turkey,'' Maddon said. .... Maddon also said it was a little "weird" watching David Price pitch on TV in Tigers gear.
A's lineup, with three ex-Rays in there:
DEVELOPING: After a tough extra-inning loss Monday night, the Rays are back on the field tonight in Oakland trying to regain some of their momentum after losing four of the last five games.
LHP Drew Smyly, acquired in last Thursday's three-team deal that send ace LHP David Price to Detroit makes his Rays debut tonight. (Price, meanwhile, pitches for the first time as a Tiger at Yankee Stadium.)
And the A's - or the R-A's, as manager Joe Maddon is calling them given the plethora of former Tampa Bay players on their roster - are starting ex-Ray Jason Hammel.
Lineups when available.
