UPDATE, 8:32: Maddon said Jennings should miss only the two weeks or so he is on the DL and be back around his Aug. 19 eligibilty date. ... In his absence the Rays will rotate both the leadoff spot, using Escobar, Zobrist and Joyce, and the centerfield position, using Fuld, Bourgeois, Rodriguez, Zobrist and even Myers. ... Maddon also had a positive report on Moore.
UPDATE, 7:03: With Jennings out, the Rays lineup will have a different look and tonight, in an emphasis to stack as many right-handers as possible against Miley, that includes putting Ben Zobrist in LF and having Ryan Roberts at 2b. ... Jason Bourgeois was obviously happy to be here and will wear No. 13. That's Carl Crawford's old number, which is ironic since it was Crawford, a childhood buddy, who encourged Bourgeois to sign with the Rays. ... LHP Matt Moore played catch again today and said his elbow continues to feel better with the possibilty he could throw off the mound on Saturday or Sunday in LA.
DEVELOPING: The Rays are back on the field late tonight at Chase Field to play the D-backs.
RHP Jeremy Hellickson will be on the mound for the Rays against Arizona LHP Wade Miley, who pitched well against them last week.
The Rays will be without CF Desmond Jennings, who was put on the DL late Monday due to a fracture in his left middle finger, sustained while sliding into second during Saturday's game-winning rally.
OF Jason Bourgeois (BOOSH-wah) was called up from Triple-A Durham, and added to the 40-man roster. To make room, the Rays transferred RHP Alex Cobb from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, which sets Aug. 15 as the first day he can be activated.
The Rays' 25-6 stretch matches the Dodgers for the best 31-game run in the majors this season. Tje Rays are unbeaten in their last 13 series.
Today is Rays reliever Jake McGee's 27th birthday.
