UPDATE, 7:35: Pearce said his elbow is feeling much better, but they don't want to risk a setback with him playing the field here so he will be limited to pinch-hitting, or 1B if needed. ... Cash said he wanted to go as right-handed as possible, and reiterated they need either Jennings or Mahtook to get hot. ... Cash said all relievers are available tonight, including Colome, who worked 3 straight days, though probably in shorter outings. ... Longoria said he was honored to win the player of the week award.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are in sweltering Phoenix tonight to open a thee-game interleague series with the D'backs, although the Chase Field roof will be closed and the A/C on given it is 112 degrees outside,

INF Steve Pearce is not in the Rays lineup, a big absence against Arizona lefty start Robbie Ray, a clear indication his sore right elbow is still an issue.
