Update 5:30 p.m. The Rays ended up tying the Pirates 2-2 in 10-innings at McKechnie Field Saturday afternoon.

LHP David Price looked - and felt good - during his spring debut, charged with one run and one hit in 1 2/3 innings. Manager Joe Maddon said Price's pitches had a lot of moments, and he pitched well overall.

Maddon lauded the rest of the relievers, saying the pitching effort as a whole was "fantastic." RHP Alex Colome was the sharpest one, getting out of a sixth-inning jam by retiring the side following a leadoff triple. LHP Jake McGee was sharp, continuing to develop his curveball.

Offensively, there was an unlikely star. INF Cameron Seitzer, a minor leaguer who played in Double-A last year, hit the game-tying solo homer in the ninth to send the game into extra innings. "Can't believe that happened," he said.

For the regulars, DH Wil Myers went 0-for-2 while reaching on an error, and C Ryan Hanigan hit a double in his Rays debut. OF Matt Joyce went 0-for-3.

Update 12:02 p.m Rays manager Joe Maddon said he's eager to see LHP David Price, who will pitch two innings in his first spring start.

Maddon said Price has shown an intense focus this spring, and looks like he's heading for a big year.

*Maddon said he got glowing reports on 2B Ben Zobrist, who has been sidelined with a sore back. Maddon said Zobrist will likely play in his first game Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

*Maddon said Wil Myers is the rare young player who likes to DH, and  he'll get his share of starts at DH in the regular season.

*Maddon said there's been no word yet about RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo or INF Wilson Betemit, both still delayed due to visa issues in the Dominican.

Developing; The Rays will play their first road exhibition game today as they're in Bradenton to face the Pirates.

Ace LHP David Price will be making his spring debut, with starting C Ryan Hanigan behind the plate. RF Wil Myers also made the trip, but he'll be designated hitter, with Matt Joyce in right.

There will be quite a few players in the lineup that are battling for roster spots, with Brandon Guyer and Kevin Kiermaier in the outfield, and SS Jayson Nix at shortstop.

Also pitching today will be LHP Jake McGee and RHP Mark Lowe, a veteran on a minor league deal who is hoping to grab the last bullpen spot.  RH Alex Colome, LHP Mike Montgomery, RH Brad Boxberger and LH Enny Romero are also slated.

The Pirates will start LHP Wandy Rodriguez, and they have a few regulars, including Russell Martin and Andrew McCutchen, in the lineup.

I will be posting live updates from the game @TBTimes_JSmith, so follow along!
