For starters: Rays at Rangers underway, Longoria at DH
UPDATE, 3:30: Should be starting shortly.
UPDATE, 1:23: The Rangers are now guessing the game will start between 3-4 Tampa Bay time.
UPDATE, 1:18: Longoria and Maddon both said there was nothing wrong that they felt this was a good time to DH him with the off-day on Thursday. Maddon said there is no set schedule but he'd expect Longoria to play 150-155 games, Longoria said he would aim for at least 155. ... Maddon said Joyce was fine. ... Maddon said the flip-flip of Longoria and Zobrist in the lineup is something he had been considering against lefties anyway, but hadn't done until today. It would seem designed to get Longoria some better pitches, and Longoria said he hasn't seen many strikes in the last week.
UPDATE, 12:09: OF Matt Joyce said he had "a little whiplash" after Tuesday's (unsuccessful) dive for a ball and was sore, but could play today.
UPDATE, 12:06: The Rangers have already announced that the start of the game will be delayed at least at hour since another front is going to be moving through the Arlington area.
DEVELOPING: The Rays are looking to avoid a three-game sweep here in Texas as they wrap up their series with the Rangers, but will have to battle the elements as well.
Also, Evan Longoria will be at DH today in yet another new-look lineup.
Temperatures are in the high 30s this morning, with overnight rain continuing and the wind blowing. The forecast from our friends at weather.com calls for more rain around midday then a clearing by early afternoon. Since this is the Rays' only trip to Texas, the teams are likely to be kept waiting a while to try to get the game in.
The Rays' lineup has a different look as manager Joe Maddon tries to find a combination that can be productive vs. lefty Derek Holland and give Longoria a day off his feet. One change is that he moved Longoria to third and Ben Zobrist to fourth.
Here is the lineup:
