For starters, Rays at Red Sox
The Rays will try to avoid going 0-6 on this road trip in a series finale today against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Tampa Bay (23-33) has dropped to 10 games under .500, and 10 games out of first place.
Some pre-game news, as RF Wil Myers has been placed on the DL with a right wrist sprain, suffered while landing after colliding with CF Desmond Jennings on the last play of Friday's game. Myers got x-rays taken Saturday, and headed back to St. Pete today for his meeting with Dr. Eaton Monday.
Maddon said he doesn't think it'll be a prolonged DL stint, but believes it might be a good mental break for Myers, who has struggled in his second big-league season.
To replace Myers, the Rays called up OF Jerry Sands, who was inserted right into the lineup as DH and cleanup-hitter today. Sands impressed during spring training with his power and had a team-high 36 RBI for Triple-A Durham this season.
*SS Yunel Escobar was originally in the lineup, but was a late scratch after testing out his tight left quad with infield work. Ben Zobrist has been moved to short, Kiermaier getting the start in right.
Maddon said they just haven't played "Rays baseball" yet, but is confident they will.
