For starters, Rays at Reds, with Kiermaier starting
UPDATE, 12:05: Maddon said Myers has been hitting the ball on the ground too much and chasing pitches a bit, but giving him today off was as much about stocking the lineup with lefties. Said he was eager to see Kiermaier play.
Maddon said he was not aware of sign mix-up between Price and Molina until this morning, that it doesn't happen too often.
UPDATE, 11:02: Kiermaier said Maddon told him during BP Friday he likely would start today, was obviously excited, didn't sleep all that well, woke before alarm today. "I"m excited,'' he said. "I'm ready to go out there and make a play, make some noise.''
Bedard said when he couldn't find a big-league job elsewhere he figured the Rays offered as good an opportunity as he could find, and was glad to be back in the majors. Isn't sure how he will adapt to bullpen role, willing to do whatever needed.
DEVELOPING: The Rays are back at it early today after last night's tense 2-1 win, with a different look to their lineup as Kevin Kiermaier gets to make his first big-league start.
Kiermaier, called up Friday, will be in centerfield, with Desmond Jennings off. Also, struggling Wil Myers gets a day off, with Matt Joyce in rightfield.
Kiermaier, who played in Game 163 and the AL wild-card game last season, will get to bat for the first time in the majors.
