For starters: Rays at Rockies, end of the road
UPDATE, 3:30: Maddon said he felt it was a tough call on whether to charge Ben Zobrist with an error in the 7th inning Saturday and that he thought it was a hit at first, but he hated to see the 5 earned runs added to David Price's stat line when the error was removed post game.
UPDATE, 3:25: Maddon said they will be limited in what moves they can make today, as they have only Sam Fuld, Luke Scott and Jose Molina on the bench. Maddon said he would consider using a pitcher as a pinch-hitter or pinch-runner, but is a little leery this early in the season. Also, with RHP Jeremy Hellickson flying back to prep for Monday's start, they are down a man there too - playing with 22 today.
UPDATE, 3:20: An unusual look to the Rays lineup today without Ben Zobrist (whose grandmother died) and Yunel Escobar (injured left hand), and no DH under NL rules.
So they will lineup like this:
Rockies lineup, with Helton and Chacin activated from DL:
DEVELOPING: The Rays are looking to wrap up their three-city road trip on a positive note today as they take on the Rockies again at Coors Field.
RHP Alex Cobb will be on the mound for the Rays, though more excited about the opportunity to hit for the first time in the big leagues.
The Rockies activated ace RHP Jhoulys Chacin off the DL to face them.
The Rays - 13-16 overall - are 3-5 on the trip that has taken them to Chicago, Kansas City and Denver.
They are coming off a frustrating 9-3 loss on Saturday in which ace David Price blew another lead, and then allowed a seventh-inning grand slam.
