For starters: Rays at Twins, Zobrist scratched
UPDATE, 3:18: Archer threw 21 pitches in his inning but said he didn't mind because he was working on his change-up and falling behind. He was clocked as high as 97. ... Jake Odorizzi made his first appearance for the Rays with a scoreless inning and said he was pleased overall. .. RHP Juan Sandoval, whose inspring tale of pitching while blind in one eye is spreading, gave up a few hits but overall was pleased. ... Top prospect OF Wil Myers got his first hit, a double to RF.

UPDATE, 11:34: Manager Joe Maddon said 3B Evan Longoria is currently scheduled to make his exhibition debut on Tuesday, though with Maddon also stressing there is no need to rush in this extended spring training it wouldn't be a surprise if that got pushed back. ... Maddon also echoed what Zobrist said about taking the day off.
UPDATE, 10:35: Always a good vibe and good tunes at Hammond Stadium as the Twins are taking BP and the Rays getting ready. ... OF Rich Thompson, who played the whole game yesterday in Port Charlotte, is in the lineup again today in rightfield and was taking some kidding about being the early IronMan. "I didn't know if the 9 next to my name was my position or my innings,'' he said.
UPDATE, 9:09: Zobrist said he is fine, that he originally wanted to play every game this week to prep for the WBC, but that bench coach Dave Martinez suggested Saturday that he take today off just to make sure he wasn't too sore. Zobrist joked he was "more sore after our four-hour practice last week" and said he could have played. ... The Rays say "plenty of seats" remain for Monday's game vs. the Red Sox in Port Charlotte.
UPDATE, 8:09: Actually, a lot changed from the lineup posted on Saturday and the new one that went up this morning, as Zobrist is now not playing. No word yet on why, though he did get four plate appearances on Saturday.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are happy to have only one game today after going 1-1 in Saturday's split squad openers, heading to Fort Myers for a 1:05 game with the Twins.
RHP Chris Archer, so impressive as a rookie last season, will make the start, though only a few of their "name" players will be in the lineup as manager Joe Maddon is concerned with not overworking anybody. Ben Zobrist is playing as part of his prep to be ready for the upcoming WBC.
