For starters, Rays vs. Blue Jays
Update 5:14 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said CF Desmond Jennings (sore left knee) is still day-to-day, as he's waiting to see more improvement before putting him back in the lineup. With the extra outfielders on the roster, there's no rush.
*LHP Matt Moore said Tommy John rehab is going as well as it could be, and that he plans to play catch for the first time on Monday. Moore is shooting for a mid-May return.
*RHP Brandon Gomes felt good Tuesday, having thrown 2 2/3 hitless innings in his first game since getting called up. Gomes said he abandoned his cutter after his first week back in Triple-A Durham, with the Rays wanting him to stick with his fastball/slider mix. And they liked his results on Tuesday. "He looked normal," manager Joe Maddon said.
*Bench coach Dave Martinez said he hasn't heard anything from the Astros yet, but points out that last time - in 2012 - it took several weeks for them to reach out to any potential candidates. Martinez feels like he's ready for a managerial job, and is open to the opportunity.
Developing: The Rays, coming off an 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays, will try to bounce back tonight against Toronto at Tropicana Field.
CF Desmond Jennings is not in the lineup for the sixth straight game, as he works his way back from a sore left knee injury. Kevin Kiermaier will start in center, with David DeJesus at DH again.
RHP Chris Archer will start on the mound, hoping to rebound from a rough outing Friday when he allowed eight runs on 10 hits. The Blue Jays will start RHP Marcus Stroman.
