For starters: Rays vs. Indians
UPDATE, 5:37: The Rays don't have any first hand experience with Indians starter Trevor Bauer, but Maddon said they have plenty of info from their scouting reports and video. ... Both Jeff Niemann and Maddon said he is going to get a second opinion on Monday from Dr. Keith Meister, the Rangers team doctor who did a previous surgery on Niemann. ... Maddon likely won't rest any of the key regulars on Sunday. ... David Price said he considers tonight's re-presentation of his Cy Young Award more of an event for the fans and fhe organization to share in the moment.
UPDATE, 5:33: Rays lineup has another different look, as manager Maddon decided to give Kelly Johnson his first start in letffield, figuring "theoretically" he shouldn't get much action since Rays starter RHP Alex Cobb is a ground ball pither and the Indians have seven lefty swingers in their lineup. Also, Maddon said he didn't want to play Sam Fuld three days in a row to not put too much strain on his legs.
Here is the Rays lineup:
And for the Indians:
DEVELOPING: RHP Alex Cobb will be on the mound for his season debut tonight when the Rays host the Indians at 7:10.
The Rays (2-2) are coming off an impressive Friday performance by their pitchers, as LHP Matt Moore was dazzling in his debut over six innings, and relievers Jake McGee, Brandon Gomes and Joel Peralta took it from there for a combined shutout.
The Rays aren't sure what to expect tonight from Indians starter Trevor Bauer, a 22-year-old promising prospect acquired by Cleveland this winter from the D-backs, for whom he made four appearances.
Bauer is known for a wide variety of pitches and an eccentric workout/warmup routine and personality.
There may be an update today on the status of RHP Jeff Niemann, who was to see Dr. Koco Eaton on Friday night about his sore shoulder.
