UPDATE, 5:15: The Rays lineup has a slightly different look, at Ben Zobrist gets a day off his feet at DH, and Sean Rodriguez plays left with Kelly Johnson at second. With Matt Moore being more of a fly ball pitcher the idea would be that Johnsonn won't see much action. ... Maddon said David Price will be limited to around 70 pitches in his Wednesday rehab assignment and that he will be re-evaluated after to see if he needs another start or is ready to return. ... RHP Brandon Gomes di d well in his Monday rehab and will throw again for the Stone Crabs on Thursday, and then in a GCL game on Saturday. ... Maddon said LHP Alex Torres has earned his way into the role as the fourth member of the relievers to be used when the Rays are even or ahead in a game, and that Torres is getting close to being ready to work on back-to-back days.
UPDATE, 3:20: A couple of early notes from the team: RHP Alex Colome will stay in the rotation and start on Friday against the Tigers, with RHP Chris Archer working Saturday and RHP Jeremy Hellickson. The Rays could have skipped Colome with Thursday's off-day. ... Third-round draft pick OF Thomas Milone and 7th round pick INF Tyler Young were officially signed. ... Triple-A Durham manager Charlie Montoyo and pitching coach Neil Allen were named coaches for the July 14 All-Star Futures Game in New York.
DEVELOPING: The Rays will try again tonight for their first three-game winning streak of the last month as they take on the Jays at the Trop.
Matt Moore will be on the mound for the Rays against Jays LHP Mark Buehrle, the same Buehrle who threw a perfect game against them in 2009.
Rays rookie OF Wil Myers was a big part of the story last night, hitting a homer in his first Trop at-bat, and also the first player in Rays history to have at least 7 RBIs in their first eight career games.
