For starters, Rays vs. Jays
Update 12:15 p.m. LHP Matt Moore was encouraged after playing catch with head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield, making 55 throws from 75 feet and feeling pain-free.
"It went really well," Moore said. "It was great, it went exactly like we wanted it to. We played easy catch and worked in some arm speed and it felt good."
There's still no timetable for when Moore, on the DL with elbow soreness, will return to the rotation. He will join the team in Baltimore and play catch Monday, but felt Sunday was a step in the right direction after three days off.
It feels good, after three days off and it's kind of weird to not call it a setback, but at the same time we were at that place where we were on our way back and took a couple days off," Moore said. "So it does feel good to pick up where I was four days ago with having some serious progress."
Update 12:07 p.m. The Rays lineup has Wil Myers back in rightfield and Kelly Johnson at DH. Sam Fuld gets another start in CF.
Developing: The Rays will wrap up a six-game homestand with a series finale today against the Jays in a matinee at Tropicana Field.
The teams split the first two games of the series, including last night's 6-2 loss by the Rays, which dropped Tampa Bay back to two games out of first place in the American League East.
RHP Chris Archer will start on the mound, looking to be a little sharper than his last outing against the Mariners, when he was charged with five runs.
It'll be a homecoming for Jays RHP Todd Redmond, the Northside Christian product who will be pitching in front of dozens of family and friends at a place he used to watch games from as a kid.
It'll be a key day on the injury front for the Rays. LHP Matt Moore is playing catch in the outfield with head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield. How Moore feels could determine the next step in his recovery from elbow soreness.
Also, CF Desmond Jennings (fractured left middle finger) will play for Class-A Charlotte, and if he comes through that okay, is expected to be activated from the DL for Monday's game in Baltimore.
Lineups, and more, to come.
