For starters: Rays vs. Mariners, Price vs. losing streak
UPDATE, 5:05: Rays officials will be talking to and about LHP Matt Moore at around 5:30 today to decide whether he is set to return to the rotation on Saturday or if he needs more work. Moore threw 50-some pitches in a bullpen session today; he didn't look particularly sharp, but he often is not in the bullpen, and is said to have felt good afterwards. ... RHP Alex Cobb will be limited to about 90 pitches when he returns to the mound on Thursday. .. CF Desmond Jennings took about 10 swings at a ball on a tee today and said his broken left middle finger felt okay. Manager Joe Maddon said it was "looking pretty good actually" for Jennings to return when eligible on Monday. ... RHP Jesse Crain (shoulder strain) played catch again and though Maddon said there was no timetable yet for him to start throwiing he is "progressing well.'' ... And for what it's worth, former Rays OF Delmon Young refused an assignment to Triple-A with the Phillies and was released. If the Rays are looking for a right-handed hitter, he could be a potential fit.
UPDATE, 4:59: The Rays lineup is quite similar to last night:
DEVELOPING: The Rays try to put an end to their six-game losing streak tonight and they will have David Price on the mound.
The Rays lost all five on their west coast road trip and then the first game of their homestand to the Mariners on Tuesday.
The losing streak is their longest since the start of the 2011 season.
Price has been pitching very well since coming off the DL on July 2, though said his last outing - which resulted in a no-decision when the Rays blew a big lead Friday in L.A. - was his least sharp.
The Mariners are starting veteran Aaron Harang, who is 5-10 with a 5.79 ERA.
Lineups when available.
