For starters: Rays vs. O's, on quick turnaround
UPDATE, 11:56: As for the different looks in the dugout, Luke Scott had the Chewbacca costume on hand due to today's planned Star Wars promotion, Jamey Wright had the Gene Simmons get-up because he occasionally wears it during the postgame clubhouse celebration, decided to bring it out late in game. Matt Moore wore the boots during the 17th inning, when the Rays didn't score Wright put them on, and it worked. Said it was the first time he had been seen in glittery high heels in public. David DeJesus said he was too focused on celebrating when he threw his helmet in the air and didn't think about it coming down, which it did, hitting Kelly Johnson in the back. "It was like I got shot,'' Johnson said.
UPDATE, 11:43: A bit blearly-eyed, the Rays are obviously upbeat in the clubhouse this morning, with music playing and a few guys gathered like usual playing cards or iPad games.
Believeau was home in Providence, R.I., last night at a friend's birthday party at a bar when he got a call from the Rays around 1 a.m. saying he would be called up today, and was on a 7 a.m. flight to Tampa.
DEVELOPING: The Rays didn't have much time to savor last night's 18-inning marathon win, as they are set to start today's game 11 hours later at 1:05.
The Rays now lead the wild card race, by a half-game over the Indians, and one game over the Rangers.
They will send RH Alex Cobb to the mound today against Orioles RH Miguel Gonzalez.
The Rays bolstered their bullpen by recalling LH Jeff Beliveau.
