For starters, Rays vs. Padres, seeking a sweep
Update 12:16 p.m. CF Desmond Jennings will not start for the third straight game due to a sore groin, but said he felt better today after testing it out in the outfield. Jennings said they're just being cautious, not wanting it to be a lingering issue, and hoping that after Monday's off-day, he'll be ready to go for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.
*There were alot of Rays planning on donning some sort of pink for Mother's Day - and breast cancer awareness. A new twist is the stitching on the baseballs are also pink, "That's pretty cool," Sean Rodriguez said.
*Evan Longoria will be a DH today, giving him a day off his legs, in addition to tomorrow's off-day. Ryan Roberts will play third in his place.
Developing: The Rays, coming off the dramatic, 8-7 walkoff win Saturday night, will try to cap off a three-game sweep of the Padres today in a Mother's Day matinee at Tropicana Field.
Tampa Bay (18-18) has won four straight, matching a season-long streak, and are now .500 for the first time since April 7.
A big reason why is its resurgent offense, which leads the majors with 132 runs in the last 23 games.
RHP Roberto Hernandez will start today, coming off an encourging outing against Toronto in which he had a no-decision.
One thing to watch will be whether CF Desmond Jennings, who missed the last two games with a sore groin, will be back in the lineup or not.
Lineups, and more, to come.
