For starters: Rays lose to Phillies 5-2 on busy day
UPDATE, 7:27: LHP Drew Smyly had another sharp outing, allowing 3 hits over 4 2/3 innings as the Rays lost 5-2. An RBI double by Logan Morrison and a home run by Kevin Kiermaier gave the Rays a 2-1 lead, but LHP Xavier Cedeno allowed four runs in the eighth.
UPDATE, 10:51: OF Brandon Guyer and wife Lindsay Murphy Guyer both posted Twitter photos of their new son, Camden, who was born Monday. Guyer said mother and son are doing well.
UPDATE, 10:46: Cash said the roster cuts and the travel party for the Cuba trip won't be announced until after today's game. ... Though no final decisions have been made, Cash said they have liked how Logan Forsythe has looked in the leadoff role and there is a definite benefit in getting him to the plate more often, potentially 75 more times over the course of a season. ... Pearce will DH Thursday in Clearwater and play 1B on Friday, with a plan to get him extra at-bats when needed in minor-league games. ... OF/DH Corey Dickerson is getting a couple days off as part of plan to keep him from swinging too much. "We're trying to be smart, back him off a little bit,'' Cash said. "He's good to go. We're very happy where he's at.'' ... Players and staff had a morning meeting to go over logistics for the Cuba trip and Cash said the group is excited to be going.
UPDATE, 9:52: Phillies lineup including Rays Rule 5 pick OF Tyler Goeddel. They are also bringing ex-Rays C J.P. Arencibia.
UPDATE, 9:10: INF/OF Steve Pearce said his tight calf has improved enough that he expected to play today but the Rays want him to wait until after Wednesday's off-day so he expects to be in a game on Thursday.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are back in Port Charlotte for what is expected to be a busy day.
In addition to playing the Phillies at 1:05, the Rays are expected to make their first major roster reduction of the spring and release the bulk of the roster for players headed to Cuba for next week's exhibition. The list will include non-roster OF Dayron Varona, their lone Cuban-born player.
LHP Drew Smyly will start the game against the Phillies, having looked very sharp in his first two outings.
