The Rays will send rookie RHP Chris Archer to the mound, hoping he can continue what he did in his last start, working six solid innings vs. Minnesota. The Rangers will send LHP Derek Holland to the mound hoping he can reverse a recent slide.
There will be at least one new face in the Rays clubhouse today, with the callup of INF Tim Beckham, the top overall pick in the 2008 draft. They also added OF Freddy Guzman on Tuesday, giving them the speedy pinch-runner they had been lacking.
The Rays are supposed to make a decision today on the status of RHP Jesse Crain, who is close to being activated.
