For starters: Rays vs. Rangers, with tiebreaker on the line
UPDATE, 5:55: The Rays stacked their lineup with left-handers against Darvish, so Wil Myers is on the bench and Evan Longoria is at DH with Kelly Johnson playing third. ... Jesse Crain said his instructional league outing went well and if he feels good on Friday he is likely to be activated on Saturday or Sunday. ... RHP Jake Odorizzi rejoined the team and will be available as a long man out of the bullpen for now. .. The big pre-game news is that Myers cut his hair for the first time since spring training.
DEVELOPING: Coming off Wednesday's dramatic win, the Rays take on the Rangers again tonight with a marquee pitching matchup in place and a potential tiebreaker on the line.
First, the pitchers.
The Rays are starting LHP Matt Moore, who has 15 wins and is coming off a rain-abbreviated three-inning start in Minnesota.
And the Rangers are starting RHP Yu Darvish, who leads the majors with 254 strikeouts.
Now the tiebreaker.
The season series is tied 3-3, and whoever wins tonight will hold the advantage - and thus the homefield advantage - should the teams finish tied for the two wild cards spots, or if they are tied to win the final wild-card spot.
Lineups when available.
