UPDATE, 6:08: Rays Maddon said Cobb has had the most consistent stuff of their starters. ... The Sox named LHP Franklin Morales as their Wednesday starter. ... Maddon said the biggest improvement in Lobaton is his confidence, that he feels like he belongs. Maddon said he may look for a few more spots to use Lobaton but he wants to be careful to not play him too much because he might not be as effective.

DEVELOPING: Coming off a Sunday loss but a series win over the Orioles, the Rays tonight open a three-game series against the division-leading Red Sox.

RHP Alex Cobb, who has been their most consistent starter, will be on the mound, taking on Boston RHP John Lackey.
