Friday morning report: Rays at Jays, with replay
UPDATE, 11:43: One change to the Rays lineup, as Sean Rodriguez will start at SS ahead of Lee. Rodriguez was supposed to play on Thursday, and already was up in the Tampa Bay area at his home so the Rays had him come over to get at-bats today.
Maddon said they didn't have much planned today in terms of replay, most likely just watching the game normally from the dugout - rather than having a staff watching on TV in the clubhouse - and decide if they are going to challenge anything.
Maddon said he'd like to get INF Wilson Betemit, who reported Thursday after a long visa delay, into a game "soon." Also he said he still was not concerned that RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo remained delayed since he has been throwing regularly in the Dominican Republic.
DEVELOPING: After being rained out Thursday in Sarasota, the Rays are in Dunedin today to take on the AL East rival Blue Jays, and also get their first experience with baseball's new replay system.
RHP Alex Cobb will be on the mound for the Rays, facing a meaty Jays lineup that also includes former Rays C Dioner Navarro.
The game will be available on MLB Network. Marc Topkin will tweet updates throughout the game at TBTimes_Rays.
Rays manager Joe Maddon also has found some loopholes to explore in the new replay system, which you can read about here.
Six games into the spring, the Rays lead all teams with a 2.29 ERA and a .996 fielding percentage.
