Fuld out another week, Scott back soon
OF Sam Fuld is likely to be sidelined at least another week due to tightness in his right hamstring but manager Joe Maddon said it should not impact his availability for the April 2 opening day nor his spot on the team.
DH Luke Scott, who also has been out since Sunday with tightness in his lest hamstring, is expected to be back in the lineup by early next week, Maddon said.
"Sam's going to take a little bit longer,'' Maddon said. "(Head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield) isn't classifying either one as a pull, more of a tightness situation. And with Sam, it's a just a matter that Sam relies on his legs a lot for his living, so he wants to take a little bit more time and make sure. Not that it's not important to Luke, it's just two different kind of players. Neither one seems to be awful by any means, being a little bit more cautious with Sam.''
Maddon said it helps that spring training is longer this year, and that Fuld, expected to play considerably as the fourth outfielder, should be ready for the April 2 opener. "In talking to Ronnie, honestly, there was no real concern, just a little bit more patient with Sam,'' Maddon said.
