Live from Port Charlotte: Day Two
The Rays will be on the field at 9:30 this morning for the second day of workouts for pitchers and catchers, but most of the attention may be on one of the side fields as blue-chip outfield prospect Wil Myers is expected to be in camp for his first workout.
Myers was the centerpiece of the off-season trade in which the Rays sent James Shields, Wade Davis and now Elliot Johnson to the Royals. Myers is expected to start this season in the minors but to be a big-league star.
Otherwise the highlight of the day will be pitchers such as Jeremy Hellickson and Matt Moore throwing their first bullpen sessions. Manager Joe Maddon was impressed by what he saw from the first group on Wednesday.
