Live from Port Charlotte: Sternberg in the house on a short day
UPDATE, 12:05: There is word that details of the Rays planned March 20-22 trip have - finally - been worked out and an annoucement could come as soon as today.
UPDATE, 12:02: Sternberg's comments on the team's improvement and the stadium situation carried the news of the day, but LHP Matt Moore was the highlight on the field with another impressive batting practice session.
Among other notes:
* The Rays unveiled the lineup for Wednesday's exhibition opener, with the normal proviso to not read too much into it:
* LHP Drew is lined up to make his first spring start vs. the Orioles on Saturday night in Sarasota.
* Moore is slated to make his debut Monday against the Red Sox in Fort Myers.
* RHP Ryan Webb did throw a bullpen session on Monday after all with no issues from his tight left hamstring and is slated to pitch in Thursday's game.
DEVELOPING: The Rays have an abbreviated workout planned for today due to the team's annual charity golf tournament this afternoon at the Ritz Carlton Club in Bradenton, with on-field work limited to 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Principal owner Stuart Sternberg is making his annual camp visit today and is expected to address the media and give his annual state-of-team address to media later this morning.
Position players started the day with a meeting about baserunning led by 1B coach Rocco Baldelli which included video clips from last season and stressed better decision making.
