Monday game report: Rays beat Phillies 6-1
UPDATE, 4:30: The Rays won their second straight, beating the Phillies 6-1.
Non-roster INFs Ray Olmedo and Cole Figueroa had big hits in a five-run seventh.
Maddon said he was pleased with Moore, who they had at 93 on their gun, and also that Zobrist had no issues and he liked the overall play, as the Rays have now gone four games into the spring without an error.
The Rays face the Red Sox in Fort Myers on Tuesday with Chris Archer on the mound.
DEVELOPING: A couple of in-game notes from Monday's Rays-Phillies exhibition:
* LHP Matt Moore was relatively pleased with his first spring outing, throwing 37 pitches (23 strikes), saying his mechanics were a little off but overall it was a good start. An off-season conditioning program was expected to boost Moore's velocity, and though he was just in the 91-92 range, he said he felt good and is looking forward to seeing how the next couple weeks unfold.
* 2B Ben Zobrist said he felt "great" after his first game action, behind after missing the first week of workouts due to a tight and sore back. Zobrist said he had no issues swinging the bat or in the field and expects to play again Wednesday.
