Monday game report: Rays lose 6-2 to Red Sox

The Rays lost 6-2 to the Red Sox on Monday in Fort Myers.

RHP Jake Odorizzi and LHP Erik Bedard, two of the candidates for the No. 5 starter's job, pitched, though neither was overly sharp.

Odorizzi worked into the third, primarily featuring his new pitch, a hybrid splitter-changeup.

Bedard worked three innings, throwing around 60 pitches, though he did hit 91 on the stadium radar gun.

Evan Longoria hit a long homer for the Rays over the faux Green Monster at Fenway South.

The Rays are back in Port Charlotte on Tuesday, hosting the Twins with David Price on the mound.
