Moore throws, Maddon says it went 'pretty good,' no decision yet

Rays LHP Matt Moore tested his sore left elbow by playing catch today.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said he was told it went well - "The word pain was not used" - but said there has been no decision yet on whether Moore will try to come back and pitch this season with a torn ligament or have Tommy John surgery and be out at least a year.

Moore was not available for comment.

"Actually (Head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield) said he threw okay, but I'm waiting to hear back from him what the final analysis is. Nothing yet,'' Maddon said. "Ronnie said he turned it loose a little bit too, so we'll see. That was probably a good test for him. The word pain was not used. Ronnie told me he actually threw the ball pretty good.''

Maddon said he did not expect any announcement today.
