Myers to see specialist, no surgery required

The Rays got some good news Monday in that OF Wil Myers won't need surgery on his injured right wrist.

But what they won't know until he sees hand specialist Dr. Douglas Carlan on Tuesday is the severity of what is wrong - whether it's a bone bruise or a nondisplaced fracture - which will determine whether he is out 2-3 weeks or six or more.

Manager Joe Maddon had encouraging updates on injured C Ryan Hanigan and RHP Jeremy Hellickson.

Maddon said Hanigan (right hamstring) went through an extensive workout at the Trop today with no issues and if he continues that way should be ready on or shortly after his June 10 eligibility date.

RHP Jeremy Hellickson looked and felt good in his simulated game and could start a rehab assignment - of at least three starts - as soon as Saturday.
