DEVELOPING: After a busy off-season that reshaped their roster and renewed hope internally, the Rays take the field this morning in Port Charlotte for their first workout of the spring at about 10:30.
The workout is technically just for pitchers and catchers, though more than half the position players are here as well.
The workload is understandably light in the early going, especially with camps opening a few days earlier than usual to accomodate training for the March WBC event.
About half the Rays 34 pitchers are schedule to throw today, including Alex Cobb, Jake Odorizzi, Blake Snell and Xavier Cedeno.
* The Rays may finalize a deal with rehabbing RHP Nathan Eovaldi, who will sign for one-year with an option, but first have to make room on the 40-man roster.
* There should be a ruling in Monday's arbitration hearing between the Rays and Odorizzi, but with a spread of only $275,000 the stakes are not particularly high,
* Free-agent signee C Wilson Ramos was not in camp Monday but is expected in the next few days and team officials do not seem concerned.
